豊かな旅の途中

イギリスから日本へご旅行中のお二人が、紙すき体験にお越しくださいました。

日本各地を巡りながら、その土地ならではの伝統技術や工芸を体験されてきたというお二人。旅先での写真を楽しそうに見せてくださり、今回の旅がどれほど豊かで思い出深いものになっているのかが伝わってきました。

日本の紙づくりにも大変興味を持ってくださり、原料や製法についてたくさんの質問が飛び交います。遠い国から来られた方と和紙を通じて言葉を交わす時間は、私にとっても新鮮で楽しいひとときでした。

初めてお会いしたはずなのに、不思議と親しみを感じます。好奇心を持って学ぶこと、心を動かされること、ものづくりを楽しむこと。そんな人生の豊かさにつながる気持ちは、国や文化が違っても共通しているのかもしれません。

Two visitors from the UK joined my traditional Japanese papermaking workshop during their trip to Japan.

They have been traveling around the country, experiencing traditional crafts and local culture in many different regions. As they happily shared photos from their journey, I could feel how rich and memorable their experiences have been.

They showed great interest in Japanese papermaking and asked many thoughtful questions about the materials and techniques used to create washi.

Although we had only just met, I felt an unexpected sense of familiarity. Curiosity, the joy of learning, and appreciation for craftsmanship may be things that connect people across cultures and borders.
